Much of southwest Missouri stands to see at least a thin glaze of ice on New Year’s Eve into New Year’s Day.
The National Weather Service says much of central and west central Missouri could see accumulating ice up to .25 inch. It’s in those areas, along and north of Highway 54, where near freezing surface temperatures will remain in place longer.
Those amounts will decrease farther south, with a lighter glaze of ice south of Highway 54.
Accumulations are expected to be primarily on elevated surfaces, but some slick spots may develop on untreated roadways, bridges and overpasses.
