The Springfield-Greene County Health Department announced Tuesday two more deaths from COVID-19 related complications.
The victims were a man in his 70s and a man in his 80s. Both of the men had underlying health conditions that contributed to their deaths.
“We must commit anew to personal responsibility for protecting ourselves, our loved ones and even the people we might not directly meet. Lives quite literally depend on us wearing our masks, washing our hands and watching our distance,” SGCHD Director Clay Goddard said earlier this month in reference to a spike in cases.
The 64 deaths in October continue to extend the record for most deaths in a single month of the pandemic. The overall death toll is 141 cases.
The county currently stands at 9,656 total cases since the start of the pandemic, with 3,337 cases currently considered active. There are 159 COVID-19 patients hospitalized, with 28 in ICU. Fifty-five of the 159 patients are Greene County residents.
