Construction of a new temporary jail for Greene County took another major step forward with the arrival and placement of the first pods for the facility.
Greene County officials say that 12 pods, 10 housing pods and 2 corridors, will be put in place at the new location south of the Public Safety Center.
Two pods have arrived, with the others in transit.
The new temporary jail will replace the current facility behind the justice center, and will give the Sheriff’s Office 282 new beds for prisoners.
Construction continues on the new Greene County Jail facility near the Springfield-Branson National Airport. Greene County officials released a time lapse video showing construction from April 21 to September 8:
