The Springfield-Greene County Health Department announced Wednesday passing 6,000 laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19.
The county reached the milestone about eight days after reaching 5,000 cases, a similar amount of time it took the county to go from 4,000 to 5,000. The county’s total lab confirmed cases is at 6,087 as of Tuesday morning, with 2,271 considered active cases.
Cox and Mercy report 129 hospitalized COVID-19 patients with 26 currently in the ICU. Forty-one of the 129 patients are Greene County residents.
Reported cases are up five percent in the last week. The positivity rate for testing over the last week is 14 percent of 6,764 completed tests.
The average age of a COVID-19 patient in Greene County in September is 36 years old.
Christian County’s most recent report of cases showed a total of 1,407 cases with 670 active. Four of the county’s cases are hospitalized.
