A Pleasant Hope man reporting missing on Thursday with his two children is now facing charges of parental kidnapping.
The Greene County Prosecutor’s Office has charged Darrell Paul Peak, 41, with two counts of parental kidnapping, a class E felony. Peak left with his children, Mayson and Kaiden, on Thursday night.
Peak abandoned his car on State Highway 65 north of Warsaw on Thursday night. Before it was known he was missing, a Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers stopped to help Peak, who declined the trooper’s assistance.
The MSHP received a call about Peak and his sons walking along Highway 65, but were unable to find them. A Benton County Deputy who saw the trio walking on Highway 65 North turned around after passing them to render assistance, but by the time they returned the three were gone.
Court documents say that authorities learned Saturday Peak went to a Miami, Oklahoma casino where he pulled $600 on a debit card and stated he and his kids were going to make a “fresh start.”
Anyone with information about the location of Peak and his children is asked to call 911.
